.:: Ph.D::.VirologyIntroductionAfter the discovery of viruses as pathogenic agents by Loeffler and Farash and the cultivation and growth of viruses in cells and animals, the science of virology has received continuous and rapid advances and in addition to the identification of viruses as agents that cause numerous and dangerous diseases in humans, many animal genetic, biological and biochemical studies were planned based on the study of viruses. Since today in our country as well as in other countries of the world, the scope of the science of virology has exceeded its specific scope and in various research areas such as the treatment of malignancy, cell therapy, use as vectors of gene and drug carriers, and very effective application in the production of vaccines needed in medicine and veterinary medicine and in other cases, led to the feeling of need for the training and education of specialists in this field, and the conditions for the establishment of PhD in medical virology (Medical Virology Ph.D) was provided in the universities of medical sciences of the country in 1992. In the faculty of medical sciences of Tarbiat Modares University, since 1999, students have been accepted for PhD in the virology department. In this field, students are fully and comprehensively familiar with the basic topics of virology, recognition and identification of viruses, molecular characteristics of viruses, diagnosis of viral infections and diseases, and conducting diagnostic tests in the field of viral diseases, and acquire the necessary information to provide specialized services in the field of virology in the society. The master's degree in medical virology is a branch of basic medical sciences in which students learn the characteristics of viruses and viral diseases, their control and prevention methods, in order to be able to perform research and diagnostic. This field in the faculty of medical sciences of Tarbiat Modares University has started accepting students since 1986 in the virology department, which has been able to successfully achieve its educational goals by training and graduating more than 200 students in continuous master's degree.
