History

Department of Midwifery and Reproductive Health started working at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in 1985.
Since its start, the Departments has been responsible for training MSc students in both Midwifery Education and Reproductive Health approaches.
In 2010, PhD students in Reproductive Health were admitted to the Faculty with the goal of educating efficient and professional graduates who are specialized in education, doing research and framing policy in the realm of reproductive health.
To constructively interact with international centers, the Department is also responsible for educating PhD applicants from Afghanistan in two approaches of Reproductive Health and MSc applicants for Midwifery

THE MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Mission of the Department embraces a wide range objectives, including training committed and educated workforce in line with educational criteria to provide specialized services in the fields of healthcare education and research as well as training graduates to prepare faculty members for various universities and educational and research centers of the country in the field of reproductive health; providing specialized and committed workforce for planning, managing and evaluating reproductive health plans, carrying out research and acquiring the latest scientific achievements in the field of midwifery and reproductive health within international community.

DEPARTMENT MEMBERS ACCOMPLISHMENTS

According to the curriculum, graduates of this Department are able to carry out diverse undertakings in this area of study such as midwifery and reproductive health services (health, Education, Care), research and education in the field of midwifery and reproductive health in educational and research centers, providing midwifery services, planning and managing programs in the field of midwifery and reproductive health in, educational, research, and health care centers, formulating general strategies of education in the country In the field of population and childbearing. The members are also capable of planning and implementing academic workshops such as: physiological childbirth workshop, workshop on traditional medicine in midwifery, holding a series of meetings in the area of population and childbearing with the cooperation of the advisor of women and family affairs of the honorable president of the university, the activity of the midwifery student scientific association and the holding of relevant workshops in the field of students educational needs (essay writing workshop, endnotes, search methods...).

RESEARCH AREAS OF THE DEPARTMENT

Different dimensions of fertility health in women of reproductive age - maternal and fetal disorders in pregnancy, endocrinology of fertility, environmental pollution and reproductive health, relationship between hormonal changes and type of delivery (caesarean delivery, vaginal) - the relationship between hormonal imbalances and depression, different areas of reproductive health - legal dimensions and gender equity in Islamic and Iranian societies sterility - social factors affecting womens health - PCT endometriosis.
