Several pneumonia cases with unknown etiology first appeared in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The clinical findings of this disease resembled viral pneumonia, which raised concerns at the Chinese and international levels (1-4). The virus spread rapidly throughout the world and affected many people (1, 5). The World Health Organization (WHO) named this disease COVID-19. Based on the statistics from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the fatality rate is 2.3%. The number of mortalities is higher in older adults (14.8% in people over 80 years). Moreover, adults with comorbid diseases (cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, chronic respiratory disease, hypertension, and cancer) are more at risk (6). Due to the potentia

PurposeFlipped classroom (FC) is a potential approach that encourages active learning and enhances student performance while reducing the failure rate in education. This study was carried out to present the conceptual model of FC adoption by students in higher education.Design/methodology/approachThis was a cross-sectional study in which 110 medical students from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz, Iran, were selected by convenience sampling methods as the sample population. An extended technology acceptance model (TAM) was applied to determine the students’ intention concerning the FC adoption. A research-based questionnaire, the validity and reliability of which have been approved, was used as the data collection instrument.
On 19 February 2020, Iran reported the initial cases of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). As of 21 March 2020, Iran had reported 175,927 COVID-19 cases, including 8425 deaths. One of the best approaches for responding to COVID-19 is rapid detection, early isolation, and quick treatment of the disease. Studies have stated that information technology (IT) is a powerful tool for detecting, tracking, and responding to pandemic diseases. Despite the importance of IT, a lack of efficient use of information technology capacity was observed after the emergence of the new cases of COVID-19 in Iran. A web-portal can integrate different services and technologies and can support interaction between non-governmental organizations (NGO) and uni
Shortly after the first outbreak in China, the Corona virus has affected many countries around the world. The first confirmed case of the virus in Iran was reported in Qom on February 2020, and then it spread to other cities in Iran (1). The outbreak has caused many social and economic challenges for the international community; also, there is no complete information about this disease (2).One of the most important challenges is the prevalence of inaccurate information about the disease, which has many psychological, political, social and economic effects on society. Infodemic or the spread of wrong information about the disease through various social media in the global community is a serious problem for public health (3).
BACKGROUND AND AIM: The high-quality data are essential for good patient care, optimal management of oral and dental diseases, and policy-making. Electronic dental and oral records have a key role in managing data in health care organizations. Aim of this article is analyzing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of electronic dental and oral record implementation in clinics of School of Dentistry, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran, from stakeholder perspectives. METHODS: A qualitative interpretive case study was conducted at clinics of School of Dentistry in Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2016. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Interviews involved asking questions and get
Background & Aims: Simultaneously with Covid-19 epidemic, much research has been done about to facilitate and expedite the diagnosis of disease, to establish vaccines and possible treatments, and to understand the socio-economic effects of this disease. New technologies such as telemedicine, ehealth, virtual reality, expert systems and artificial intelligence are very important in the progress and success of medical sciences. The experience of similar diseases such as MERS and SARS has confirmed the usefulness of information technology in management of infectious diseases and epidemics. The purpose of this study is to review the applications of information technology in Covid-19 management.Material & Methods: The present study is a five-ste
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was quickly spread all around the world (1). On Feb 19, 2020, Iran reported the initial cases of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)(2). As of Mar 21, 2020, 20,610 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Iran, including 1,556 deaths (3).Health facilities of the countries can support early diagnosis of COVID-19 and its treatment (4). Iran is facing the shortage of medical, pharmaceutical, and laboratory equipment that has resulted in the increased burden of the epidemic and, consequently, the higher number of death caused by the disease (2). Also, the equality and efficiency of the allocated health care resources are critical issues (5). Information technology (IT) can facilitate accurate health care re

Background Evaluating the effectiveness of health information systems and users' satisfaction with system performance is crucial. The success of an information system is directly dependent on system responding to user needs. Due to the importance of this issue, authors were designed a tool to evaluate users' satisfaction with Integrated Health System. Material & Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2018 to design a user satisfaction questionnaire in an Integrated Health System. In the first step, the areas of user satisfaction were identified by reviewing literature and reliable scientific sources. Then a bank of questions was created and after classifying the indicators and identifying related questions the primary tool was
Aim:The aim of this present study was to show that hepatitis C treatment in patients with drug addiction is effective like patients without drug addiction.Material and Methods:Total amount of 57 patients with hepatitis C (25 drug abuser and 32 non–drug abuser) that referred to Shahid Motahari clinic of Shiraz were selected. All patients infected with HCV treated by combination regimens of ribavirin, sofosbuvir and interferon. Patients received sofosbuvir (400mg once a day) in combination with peg-IFN-alpha (92a180m/w› 92b1/5m/kg/w) and RBV (under 75 kg 1000mg, over 75 kg 12000kg) for 12 weeks. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test was used for testing normality. Associations between variables were analyzed using a Chi-square, Fisher exact, T st
