Rainer Duttmann, professor of Kiel University of Germany, gave a lecture in Natural Resources Faculty of TMU


At the beginning of this panel which was sponsored by Natural Resources & Marine Sciences Faculty and Iran Watershed Association, Dr. Bakhtiari, the dean of the faculty welcomed the visiting guest, faculty members, staff, and students.

After expressing his gratitude for the invitation, Dr. Duttmann talked about the maze cultivation in Germany, the use of modern agricultural machinery and equipment and tillage operations.

He described the effects of tillage on soil behavior and stressed the need for land statistics methods for the analysis of soil tilling operations. In a part of his lecture, he elaborated on the use of proper agricultural implements based on data about soil depth, pressure & exerted pressure pattern and soil properties. He also recommended the use of drones for the dynamic modeling of tillage.

In another part of his lecture, Professor Duttmann talked about soil erosion and ways to reduce or prevent it.

At the end of this scientific meeting, Dr. Duttmann and other faculty members present in the panel answered the students' questions.

Dr. Duttmann also held a meeting with the members of Iran's Watershed Association in which he was briefed about the activities of the association, the extant facilities, equipment and rain simulation laboratory at the faculty.

During his stay in Iran, Dr. Duttmann also paid a visit to the water basins in the north of Iran to get familiar with different geological formations, rangelands, Caspian Hyrcanian mixed forests, soil erosion conditions, and research and monitoring facilities. This visit was coordinated by TMU Faculty of Natural Resources and Marine Sciences.
